Vancouver Island Waterjet
Vancouver Island Waterjet is here to help you manufacture your parts in a cost effective way to achieve the best results. We are completely dedicated to the art of waterjet cutting. We are focused, determined and serious about providing the best service in the industry. Whether it requires "one off" or cutting mass quantities, we'll take the time to do it right.
The most common applications for Waterjet Cutting are:
Metals, Glass, Stone/Marble, Ceramic/Tiles, Plastic, Rubber, Foam, Gasket, Wood.
What is Waterjet Cutting:
A Water Jet Cutter, also known as a Waterjet is a tool capable of slicing into metal or other materials such as granite using a jet of water at high velocity and pressure, or a mixture of water and an abrasive substance. The process is essentially the same as water erosion found in nature but greatly accelerated and concentrated. It is often used during fabrication or manufacture of parts for machinery and other devices. It is the preferred method when the materials being cut are sensitive to the high temperatures generated by other methods. It has found applications in a diverse number of industries from mining to aerospace where it is used for operations such as cutting, shaping, carving and reaming.
Utilizing the new Omax Maxiem model 1530 with 40HP pump and A-Jet Head.
Why it is better and why is it needed (Waterjet Attributes) :
Extremely versatile process.
No Heat Affected Zones.
No mechanical stresses.
Thin stream (0.020 to 0.050 inch in diameter).
Extremely detailed geometry.
Paper thin material cutting or up to 10 inch thick material cutting.
Stack cutting.
Little material loss due to cutting.
Low cutting forces (under 1 lb. while cutting).
Produces a clean smooth cut with little or no burr to clean. Reduced secondary operations.
